One of the unfortunate things about being a single gal is that I never experience any of the typical life milestones after university that would call for formal photos:
- Engagement
- Wedding
- Maternity
- Newborn
- Family photos for Christmas cards to document the cute, growing kids
Unless I consciously make the effort, I could go my entire life and never have anything but snapshots of me.
So I decided for my 40th birthday I’d book myself a photo shoot. Just because I can and I want one.
Even had my hair and makeup done for the first time since 2006.
Would I rather being doing a shoot with a family of my own?
You bet. 100,000 times over. But this is my life and I have to find reasons to celebrate even if my heart is sad.
I chose a waterfall as my backdrop because my papa used to love taking photos of them. And my camera came with me because at this time in my life, it’s a huge part of it.
