Overcast days aren’t my favourite.
I’d much rather have a clear sky with glowy backlighting… I mean, doesn’t almost every photographer?
Although you can certainly get great photos under almost any condition if you know what you’re doing, but as a new phototog, I did not.
I panicked.
I had anticipated the sunset cooperating with my plans, and suddenly I had to figure it all out on the fly with very little experience to go on.
If the sun is hiding, should I turn them towards the sun? Away from the sun??
How do I make sure they don’t have racoon eyes?
I did my best to pretend like I knew what I was doing, and luckily the lovely people in this fam are also my friends who are super easy going, so that took a bit of the pressure off.
So I tried all the things I could think of and I think I did alright…

By next year I’ll have a lot more experience to know what to do if the sun continues to hide on me, so I’m a little less anxious… but still rootin’ for a good glowy sun for them next time 😉
